Library News

Main Library Closed the Week of August 30th; Will Reopen with Winter Schedule on Tuesday, September 7th

The Main Library will close the week of August 30 in preparation for the HVAC Construction Project. The South Branch and the West Branch Libraries will be open, and patrons are encouraged to use the Branch Libraries.

The Main Library and the Branches will be closed Saturday, September 4 through Monday, September 6 in observance of Labor Day. The libraries will re-open Tuesday, September 7.

The Library regrets any inconvenience during the HVAC improvements project. For more information call the library at 978.531.0100.

The Library resumes its winter schedule in September. The Main Library’s Winter Schedule is:

Monday through Thursday: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The hours at the South Branch Library and the West Branch Library are:

Monday and Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Tuesday: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday: 12 p.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday: 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  

 

Library Announces Fall Concert Series 2010

The Peabody Institute Library is pleased to announce our Fall 2010 Concert Series.  The performance schedule is as follows:

Monday, August 23rd at 7 p.m.
Music at Eden’s Edge performs Taking August Measures: Dancing the Baroque.

Monday, September 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
Jaded Mandolin performs original and traditional folk music.

Monday, October 18, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
Cappella Clausura performs 14th - 17th Century Choral Music.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
Rebecca Hains performs From Operetta to Broadway: A Musical Journey.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
Aine Minogue, Celtic Harpist, performs To Warm a Winter’s Night.

Concerts are free and open to the public, but seating is limited and registration is required for each event.  All concerts, with the exception of Rebecca Hains, will be held at the Main Library at 82 Main Street in Peabody.  The Rebecca Hains performance will be at the Wiggin Auditorium at Peabody City Hall.

City of Peabody White Goods Stickers are now available at the Main, South and West Branch Libraries. Stickers cost $10 and are non-refundable. For more information, please call the City Clerk's office at 978-538-5956.
