Welcome to the Teen Department!

Encouraging teens in grades 6-12 to explore, create, become lifelong readers, and innovative learners!

The Main Library’s Teen Room is open every day after school, and has 10 gaming computers that you can use for fun or homework.

Hallow-Ink

Join the teen room for Hallow-Ink, a drawing challenge, one drawing each day of October! And the best part? We have the subject for you. You can interpret each day any way you like and use any medium. Make it literal, abstract, scary, or quirky, we want to see what you come up with! Post it to social media and tag it #PILHallowInk to share your art and see what others are creating (and Amy and Joanna from the teen room will be participating as well!) If you would like your art to be featured on our website please email a picture to  peabodyteens@noblenet.org.

Joanna

Joanna

Teen Librarian

I’m Joanna and I am the Head of Teen Services! I studied Fiber Art at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and am currently pursuing my masters in Children’s Literature and Library Science at Simmons University. I love working in the teen department because I get to combine my love of books and teaching art. I love crocheting and weaving while listening to audio books, swing dancing, roller derby, singing show tunes, and playing my ukulele.  My favorite genres in YA include any dystopian, mystery, or LGBTQ romance novels if you need suggestions!

Amy

Amy

Teen /Children's Assistant

I’m Amy and I’m a Library Assistant in the Teen and Children’s departments! I went to art school and studied Illustration. I’m the person who draws all the cartoon characters you can find behind the fiction books. I also manage the Graphic Novel and Manga collections in the Teen Room. I love animals, making art, reading comics and watching cartoons. Come find me if you want a graphic novel recommendation, would like to request a manga series for the library, or want to ask me to draw something on the chalkboard wall!
