Wednesday, May 12th, 7 PM: Singer/Songwriter Stephanie James

Register here.

Peabody native and recording artist Stephanie James brings an evocative, fresh experience to the world of pop music. With a voice often described as “stunning” and “soulful”, Stephanie is a gifted storyteller who masterfully touches the hearts and souls of her fans. Both raw and refined musically, the songs solidify Stephanie’s status as a poised and powerful performer often likened to a revival of legendary Linda Ronstadt combined with modern day super talents Sara Bareilles and Kacey Musgraves. James released her debut album “Unbreakable” in collaboration with Grammy-nominated producers Jorel Corpus and Simone Torres. The album explores vulnerability, self-reliance, themes of growing up, and learning from the past. Stephanie is bi-coastal, spending much of her time in Los Angeles where she lives today, and the greater Boston area where she grew up.

Monday, May 17th, 7 PM: Sol y Canto Duo

Register here.

Sol y Canto’s mission is to create music and performances that move, delight, excite and connect – connect the audience to the richness of Latin American culture; connect individuals, Hispanic and non-Hispanic, to each other through shared experience of music, poetry, humor and a joyful, playful vibe; and connect us all to our hopes and visions of a better world.

Sol y Canto is the award winning Pan-Latin ensemble led by Puerto Rican/Argentine singer and bongo player Rosi Amador and New Mexican guitarist and composer Brian Amador. Featuring Rosi’s crystalline voice and Brian’s lush Spanish guitar and inventive compositions, Sol y Canto is known for making their music accessible to Spanish- and non-Spanish speaking audiences of all ages.

Sol y Canto’s original songs are distinguished by poetic, often quirky lyrics set in a framework of varied musical styles with surprising twists. They can make you dance, laugh, cry and sigh all in one concert. Their arrangements of classic and contemporary Latin tunes are always fresh and original.

Monday, June 7th, 7 PM: Harpist Áine Minogue

Register here

Join us as we transition from Spring to Summer with perennial PIL favorite Áine Minogue. Áine will help us celebrate the beauty and joys of summer through her ethereal and calming harp music.

As traditional Irish music and dance continue to enjoy phenomenal success both here and in Ireland, Áine Minogue is an artist who has long explored its themes and who captures its very essence. Her voice reflects the lyricism and richness to be found in Irish music, mythology and poetry with a voice undeniably her own and a diverse group of instruments that add to the traditional flavor of her work. Ireland’s The Guardian said “. . . it is in performance that the real Áine Minogue emerges….through her sheer talent as a musician and storyteller . . .” while critic Scott Alarik of The Boston Globe said “beguiling style . . . Áine Minogue’s harp was dark and beautiful.”

Monday, June 21st, 7 PM: Dance Caliente

Register here

Together as Dance Caliente, Raul Nieves and Eileen Herman-Haase share a compelling magnetism as master teachers, choreographers, and performers. Their goal is to impart the joy of partner dancing onto their students. They welcome students of varying ages and experience.

Dance Caliente will perform 4-5 various dances (i.e. Waltz, Swing, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Foxtrot), and leave time in between each performance for a short lesson on that dance. The lessons will be interactive and low-impact, tailored to seniors and beginners, and do not require a partner. Audience members can sit back and watch Raul and Eileen, or get up and dance themselves!

The Main Library is now open on Mondays-Thursdays 10am-4pm & Saturdays 10am-2pm! Please see www.peabodylibrary.org/reopening for more information about browsing, computer use, and holds pickups.

The South & West Branches are not yet open to the public. Book returns are open at all three locations.
