All Three Library Locations are Open to the public, on a limited schedule. See the schedule at www.peabodylibrary.org/reopening.
Masks are not required, but are encouraged. The CDC currently recommends masks and social distancing for those who are not vaccinated.
Library of Things
The Peabody Library is delighted to provide a lending library of non-book items that we think you will find useful and fun! The collection contains items you might not otherwise want to spend money on, such as technology gadgets, tools, entertainment like board games, and outdoor equipment.
Scroll through the list on the right side of the page to see the entire collection, and click “borrow” to reserve an item.
Each item may be borrowed for 2 weeks at a time, and can be renewed if nobody else has reserved it. (Hotspots may not be renewed)
Items can be reserved up to 3 months ahead of time, but are limited to one reservation per month per patron.
Items must be picked up and returned to the Main Library. See below for more details about picking up and returning items.
Reserving a Thing
Library of Things items can be reserved up to 3 months in advance for a 2 week lending period.
They can be reserved using the list on this page – please do not use the library catalog to put things on hold.
Scroll through the list above, find your item, and click “borrow” to start the reservation process.
You’ll get an email a day before your reservation starts, and you may pick it up at the Public Service Desk during normal library hours.
Picking Up a Thing
If you’ve reserved an item, you may pick up your items at the Public Service Desk during normal Library hours.
You can also browse the collection, ocated outside the Director’s Office in the main room.
Each item contains a laminated table of contents either taped to the front of the box or just inside the box – please double check the list before leaving the library to make sure everything is there.
Returning a Thing
Please return items to the Main Library at 82 Main Street, inside the library at the Public Service Desk.
Please do not return items to the book drop, as we don’t want them to get squished, damaged, or lost.
Items must be returned in their original containers, and please double check that you are returning all of the pieces or parts that you checked out. Please be extra careful to return items clean and sanitized.
