Teen Volunteer Opportunities
Gaming for Good
Tuesdays, starting October 1st, 6:30-8pm
Teens will work in teams or on their own to design video games that can create social change. Teens will pick an issue they care about, plan a game that raises awareness of their topic and use Scratch software to bring their multimedia games to life. No experience designing video games or using Scratch software is needed. Space is limited. Please sign up.
Wednesdays, starting October 2nd, 3:30-5pm
Use your Art to make a difference in the world. Talk, learn and create projects that you are passionate about! Last year Art Activists yarn bombed, made Artist Trading Cards, & wrote poetry & protest songs. The first projects of this year will be protest songs and music videos with Peabody TV, photography and button making.
Math Homework Helpers
Mondays & Wednesdays, starting September 30th, 3-5pm
The Library is looking for strong math students in grades 8 and up to help other students with homework. Anyone interested in becoming a Math Homework Helper must speak with the Teen Librarian, at 978.531.0100 x. 14.
Mondays, 4-5 pm
Bringing Fun and Excitement to the Peabody Library Since 2003 The Library's teen advisers, officially called the Youth Advisory Klatsch* (YAK), run events for teens, select books, CDs and DVDs for the library to buy, promote reading and much more! New members are always welcome, so bring a friend.
*Dictionary definition: a gathering categorized by informal conversation.
Other one-time volunteer opportunities are announced on an ongoing basis.
