HVAC Project Updates

The Main Library will be closed from Saturday, February 26 through Sunday, March 6. The South Branch and the West Branch Libraries will be open for service and patrons are encouraged to visit the branch libraries. Branch hours of operation are: Monday and Wednesday 9 – 6 pm; Tuesday 9 – 9 pm; Thursday 12 – 9 pm; and Saturday 9 – 2:30.

The Peabody Institute Library is pleased to announce that the first floor lobby is scheduled to re-open on Monday, March 7. At this time the 82 Main Street entrance will be open, and library services that had been temporarily relocated to other parts of the building will be returned to the main lobby.

Thank you to everyone for your patience during this project.

The bulk of the work in the Main Lobby will be completed by mid-January.

At that time the Library Staff will be busy returning it to normal use.

We are excited about the energy improvements and environmental changes.

The Main Lobby will be more comfortable and visually appealing.

The HVAC Project at the Peabody Institute Library at 82 Main Street begins Monday August 30, 2010.

The Main Library will be closed the week of August 30. The South Branch and the West Branch Libraries will remain open for service.  Branch hours of operation during the week of August 30 are:  Monday and Wednesday 9 – 6 pm; Tuesday 9 – 9 pm; and Thursday 12 – 9 pm.

The Main Library will re-open Tuesday, September 7 following the Labor Day weekend. The Main Lobby will be closed; however, library services will be provided from parts of the building that remain open.

Please note that:

• Visitors will be able to enter the library through the Courtyard Lobby or through the Children’s Room.
• Circulation Desk services will be available in the Young Adult Room.
• Information Desk services and public computers with Internet access will be available in the Lower Level Conference Room.
• Main Lobby collections will be available on the 2nd and 3rd Floors.

Library staff will make every attempt to provide ongoing circulation and reference services from areas that remain open to the public.  Patrons are encouraged to use the South Branch and the West Branch Libraries during the HVAC Project.

The Friends of the Peabody Institute Library are NOT able to accept donations of Books, Audiobooks, Music CDs, Videotapes or DVDs at the Main Library during the summer of 2010.

Space requirements for staging and work areas for the HVAC Project
require use of the Friends’ storage areas.

Please consider storing your materials and donating them to The Friends after October 15, 2010.
